I am an artist, maker and teacher. I grew up in a little village in a very 'arty' family. I have always felt a need to make things.
Unable to stick to just one creative process I have persued my love of colour and pattern through a variety of art and craft techniques over the years, that have taken me on many creative journeys.
In my student days I studied Fine Art Painting in London. I developed a keen interest in Colour Theory and I explored colour relationships in my paintings.
The first time I was inspired by seeing mosaics was when I went to Barcelona as a teenager and saw Gaudi's Park Guell but I only started making them myself seven years ago. For me, the mosaic making process is a celebration of colour, pattern, decoration and recycling. I love upcycling old, unwanted treasures into beautiful art. I wonder about the stories behind the broken crockery and vintage mirrors...who did they belong to? What have they seen?
I sell my work at my Open House exhibitions at my home in Brighton in May as part of the Brighton Festival and at Christmas. I also sell at craft fairs in and around Brighton and online at www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LunamoonMosaic. I also exhibit at my father's Open House exhibition as part of Henley Arts Trail. My work can also be bought or commissioned though this website.
